Release of HydroSHEDS v2 data for the Americas
HydroSHEDS v2 is the next generation of global hydrographic data, providing a seamless, high-resolution foundation for mapping and analyzing freshwater systems in support of hydro-ecological research and applications worldwide.
The current release of HydroSHEDS v2 includes North America and South America and provides core layers (Flow Directions, Flow Accumulation, River Network, and Basins) at a resolution of 1 arc-second (~30 meters at the equator) based on 12m resolution TanDEM-X (TerraSAR-X add-on for Digital Elevation Measurement) data. [1].
The development is a collaborative effort between World Wildlife Fund (WWF), McGill University, Confluvio Consulting, Montreal, Canada, and the German Aerospace Center (DLR).
The datasets are available in our EOC Download Service [2]. A full description of the methods and data formats can be found in the technical documentation [3]. See [4] for more information.
